Prague, Czech Republic Itinerary

Updated: Dec 27, 2022

I have been to Prague in both 2017 & 2019 and it was magical both times. Prague has captivating architecture and great food. Below are a list of my recommendations, along with a list of places I did not get to but added for you to try out!

All recommendations beginning with an *asterisks are the ones that I recommend the most.

Accommodation:

Mojo Hostel: I really enjoyed staying here as it was centrally located, safe, and cozy. I find all of my hostels on Hostel World. Definitely do your research before booking, but most hostels are amazing prices and great experiences.

Breakfast/Brunch:

*Venue: A small brunch spot located in the heart of Prague. We stumbled upon this place and it ended up being one of our favorite meals on the trip. Highly recommend, as everything was very flavorful and the prices were good.

  • Cappuccino: This was genuinely the BEST cappuccino I have ever had. It came with a little cup of liquid sugar (very similar to maple syrup) that you pour into the cappuccino

  • Sweet Potato Hash: Roasted sweet potatoes with red oninons, 3 baked eggs, chorizo flakes, avocado crema and fresh coriander. Served with toasted bread

  • Chicken & Waffles: Fried boneless chicken thighs and homemade waffle, served with cheddar sauce and chili-maple syrup, crispy bacon bits on top, small green salad

*Cafe Louve: A French inspired cafe that is so cute and offers a lot of space so you are bound to get a table quickly. This was recommended by many people and I can definitely see why.

  • Homemade Pancakes: These come drizzled in raspberry syrup. SO delicious.

Bakeshop: Around the corner from Old Town Square, this is a nice spot for a quick bite to eat.

Lunch/Dinner:

*Manifesto Market: This is an outside food market that has many venders. Highly recommend as you can enjoy various foods.

*Terasa U Prince: The rooftop restaurant at Hotel U Prince in Old Town Square. This is without a doubt the BEST spot in Prague to get a picture as you will see the stunning & famous church in the background. I also remember the food and drinks being really good as well.

*Agave: A beautiful & yummy Mexican restaurant near Old Town Square. I remember really loving the guacamole, drinks, and overall ambiance of the restaurant.

Bars: I have also listed an article of a few other highly-rated bars.

*Anonymous Bar: This is one of the coolest bars I have ever been to. It is considered a speak easy as it is located down an alleyway, but it is very easy to find. With the dark ambiance, halloween-esque masked employees, and shows put on with each drink made - you will have such a great night.

*Lokal: A "beer hall" type restaurant with a menu of local ingredients cooked to order. Great place to enjoy small local cuisine and drinks.

Ice Bar: There are Ice Bar's in multiple European cities, and it is definitely a once and done type of experience. You purchase a ticket in the "bar," and they provide the coat and free drink. You are in there for less than an hour and it is a great photo op as the entire bar is ice... including the cup.

Black Angels Bar: A unique bar located 5 stories under Hotel U Prince that holds a "spooky" atmosphere. They have great drinks and a cool history as well.

Dessert:

*Good Food: A "bakery" known for its "Trdelnik" or Prague "chimney cake." This is an absolute must when visiting the Czech Republic. These are handheld cilinder "cakes" that are often filled with ice cream or chocolate. These are definitely big enough to share with someone else.

Activities:

*Free Walking Tour: Every city in Europe offers free walking tours and I highly recommend taking advantage. Typically, they are no longer than 2 hours and they give you interesting facts and history of the area while taking you around the town!

Hot Air Balloon: Chris took me on a private hot air balloon ride over the country side of Prague. It was one of the best experiences of my entire life, complete with champagne and a private ride to and from the hotel.

*Christmas Markets: If you are in town around Nov/Dec, you must visit the Christmas Markets (many European cities have them!). These are scattered throughout the city and have many cute items you can keep for yourself or gift to a loved one. We especially loved the ones located near Venue.

Places:

*John Lennon Wall: The iconic John Lennon Wall is a bit of a walk from Old Town Square but so worth it as you get to explore the city on the way. There is usually street performers at the wall, so you get to enjoy live music while you take in the art.

Prague Castle: A fairytale like castle that overlooks the city. Absolutely stunning and a great way to spend your afternoon. I recommend buying tickets online beforehand.

Dancing House Hotel: A really cool part of Prague, located right on the river. Especially if you are into architecture, it is a beautiful building that looks like it is "dancing," hence the name. Definitely worth stopping why on your walk around the city.

Charles Bridge: THE famous bridge in Prague. Absolutely stunning to walk across or stare at from afar, especially at sunset.

Petřín Lookout Tower: A Prague landmark that resembles a smaller Eiffel Tower. It sits on a beautiful hill and overlooks Prague - which is a beautiful place to see the city.

Old Town Square: The most popular square in Prague, surrounded by beautiful architecture and yummy eats.

  • Church of Our Lady: The most famous church in Prague, absolutely stunning.

  • Prague Astronomical Clock: This clock goes off at the top of every hour, and you will see a crowd of people waiting to watch. There is also a 45-second show at the top of the hour that includes little statues appearing out of the clock.

  • Starbucks + food: There is a Starbucks located in the square (perfect to grab a "Prague" Starbucks collectable mug!) and a bunch of restaurants as well

Activities:

Paddle Boating: Paddle down the longest river in the Czech Republic, seeing the city from a different angle.

Other Cities: I have not visited these places, but I have read that they are well worth the day trip if you have the time.

Pilsen: About 1 hour from Prague

Bohemian Switzerland National Park: About 1.5 hours from Prague

Next Time: Places I will try once I return to Prague

Marina Ristorannte (waterfront italian)
